STEPHEN KING
Portland, (1947- ). Stephen King estudió lengua y literatura inglesas en la Universidad de Maine, donde participó activamente en las movilizaciones estudiantiles contra la guerra de Vietnam. Trabajó un tiempo en una lavandería, mientras publicaba ya relatos en varias revistas. Stephen King se ganó el favor de la crítica con su primera novela, Carrie (1974), a la cual siguieron El resplandor (1975), que le valió un gran prestigio internacional, It (1986), Misery (1987) e Insomnio (1994), entre otros muchos éxitos. Su estilo, efectivo y directo, y su capacidad para resaltar los aspectos más inquietantes de la cotidianidad, han convertido a Stephen King en el especialista de literatura de terror más vendido de la historia.
