John Brockman (Boston, 1941) es un empresario cultural con una amplia trayectoria en el mundo del arte de vanguardia, la ciencia, el mundo editorial, el software e internet. En la década de 1960, acuñó la palabra «intermedia» y aplicó el concepto «entorno cinético intermedia» al arte, el teatro y el comercio, mientras asesoraba a clientes como General Electric, Columbia Pictures, el Pentágono y la Casa Blanca. Más tarde fundó la agencia literaria Brockman, Inc., especializada en libros de no ﬁcción. Es, además, fundador y editor de Edge.org, un sitio web dedicado a discusiones cientíﬁcas en las que participan los pensadores más brillantes del mundo, los líderes de lo que él ha llamado la «Tercera Cultura». Ha publicado numerosos libros, entre ellos, La tercera cultura (Tusquets, 1996), Mente (Crítica, 2012), Cultura (Crítica, 2012), Universo (Crítica, 2012), Vida (Crítica, 2012), Las mejores decisiones (Crítica, 2015) y Este libro le hará más inteligente (Paidós, 2017).
