El estatuto de los parlamentarios y su principal expresión, las garantías de la inviolabilidad y de la inmunidad, configuran una problemática constituciona nada desdeñable en los tiempos actuales, máxime cuando por voces autorizadas ha sido cuestionada especialemente la inmunidad de nuestros representantes políticos. El tema proporciona ocasión al autor del libro para poner de relieve la tensión existente entre las garantías parlamentarias y los derechos fundamentales, de modo principal el derecho a la tutela judicial efectiva y el derecho de participación. Todo ello se analiza tanto desde una óptica doctrinal como política y teniendo en consideración a la notable jurisprudencia del Tribunal Constitucional. Se plantean también en este trabajo categorías tan debatidas como la representación política y la publicidad parlamentaria frente al secreto, haciendo referencia a la posición de los representantes y al derecho de participación de los ciudadanos en los asuntos públicos.
