In The Juniper Tree, a teacher, visited by the ghost of her recently deceased friend, is forced to sing The Star Spangled Banner in a kind of nightmare reunion. Lorrie Moore
Nacida en Glens Falls (Nueva York) en 1957, es autora de tres libros de relatos, Autoayuda (1985), Como la vida misma (1990) y Pájaros de América (1998), y de dos novelas, Anagramas (1986) y Elhospital de ranas (1994). Pájaros de América fue elegido Libro del Año de 1998 por The New York Times, seleccionado entre los mejores del año por Los Angeles Times y Publishers Weekly, finalista del National Book Critics Circle Award, y permaneció varias semanas en la lista de libros más vendidos; autores de la talla de Julian Barnes lo eligieron como uno de los mejores libros del año, y la revista Entertainment Weekly lo ha seleccionado como uno de los 50 mejores libros de los últimos 25 años. Lorrie Moore ha sido galardonada con el Irish Times International Prize for Literature, el O. Henry Award, el PEN/Malamud Award y el Rea Award for the Short Story, y la Lannan Foundation le ha concedido una beca. Es miembro de la American Academy of Arts and Letters.
