The Summer Between

Sunny is seventeen, Skye is fourteen, and the summer between is the one everything leans on. Sunny has a job at the Creamery, a beautiful college-essay notebook that is still completely blank, and a secret project down at the boathouse: bringing the familys old boat, the Two Harts, back to life before anyone finds out. Skye, meanwhile, is doing her own counting — of porch posts, of Fridays, of all the "lasts" she can feel arriving — and watching her older cousin get ready to leave is its own kind of growing up. Told in both girls voices, this is a novel about the final summer before everything changes: first jobs, big decisions (a place at Callahan is waiting for an answer), little siblings growing at entirely different speeds, and a letter from the other side of the world reminding the girls that the boat — and the lake house — was always theirs; their family just kept it warm. For anyone standing where Sunny stands: one foot still in childhood, one foot in whatever comes next. A Sunny & Skye young adult novel.
