A pintora naturalista e ícone feminista Marie-Rosalie Bonheur, mais conhecida como Rosa Bonheur, nasceu em 16 de março de 1822 em Bordeaux. Com menos de 20 anos de idade, ela expôs no Salon em 1841. O Mercado de Cavalos, considerado de raro poder para uma mulher, tornou-a conhecida em toda a Europa. Pintora naturalista e ícone feminista à frente de seu tempo, ela fez campanha pela causa animal por meio de suas obras.
