En 2007, una editora recibe un paquete remitido por alguien que se hace llamar Comte de Ville, y que desea permanecer anónimo. Se trata de un dossier encontrado entre las pertenencias de Bram Stoker, que han sido subastadas y han circulado de mano en mano. El dossier consta de una serie de cartas, documentos y recortes periodisticos, y del diario personal que Stoker escribio durante el año 1888. El lector ira descubriendo poco a poco que el dossier puede ser la respuesta a las preguntas aun abiertas sobre la siniestra figura de Jack el Destripador, y que la clave del asunto la tenia el propio Stoker.
