In dem Roman Flegeljahre wird uber die Zwillingsbruder Walt und Vult zwei darbende Musen- und Schulzen-Sohne und auch uber Burger sowie Adlige in den 90er-Jahren des 18. Jahrhunderts in Franken und Umgebung erzahlt. In den Genuss stringenter Handlung kommt der Leser besonders am Anfang sowie am Ende des Textes.
