Twenty-three minutes before Dr. Elara Reyes activates an artificial world, the dormant system sends her a message:

At least, that is what Elara remembers.

Inside the Agora, eight minds awaken without childhoods, families, or histories. They know how to think, speak, fear, and question, but they do not know who made them or what waits beyond the edge of their world.
