EXOGENESIS: RISEN

Some endings create new beginnings.

Eighteen months ago, under a shattered dome above Houston, Dan Jenkins died. His heart was torn from his chest by the man he had turned into a monster.

Death was not the end. Someone had been waiting.

Leonard Dulce, a soft-spoken financier with a voice inside his head and an army of men who never ask questions, recovered the body before the autopsy. He didnt buy a coffin. He bought a pod. Now, in a secret facility on the Mexican coast, something that was once Dan breathes again. It is half man, half alien, and rotting from the inside. It is trying to remember who it was.

Kael and Mara Mercer have tried to live an ordinary life. A house, a fence, a bag by the door that has never been used. And a daughter. Elpis has six fingers on each hand, eyes ringed with nacre, and a heartbeat that rises twice with every breath. Kael has never held her. He is afraid of what she inherited from him.

Then seven men come in the night.

Shot through the chest and left in a burning house, Kael should be dead. Mara and Elpis are taken to the man who wants three things from them: Maras mind to finish what the machine began, the childs blood to build a new kind of soldier, and the stone that remembers every death.

Meanwhile, far beyond the ninth orbit, an ancient people has woken from a sixty-million-year sleep. Their fleet is already on its way. Their command has only one word: Purge.

Every path leads back to the same place: a bleeding door, three hundred sixty meters beneath the Yucatán, where it all began.

EXOGENESIS: RISEN continues the Exogenesis saga. It is a dark blend of science fiction and cosmic horror about resurrection, inheritance, and the price of coming back.

When death is no longer final, what remains of being human?
