Escrito por Michael Powell
El realizador de cine inglés Michael Powell (1905-1990) es más conocido por su asociación con el asimismo director Emeric Pressburger, con quien formó la productora The Archers («Los arqueros»). Entre 1939 y 1972, escribieron, produjeron y dirigieron en colaboración un total de veinticuatro películas, entre las que se cuentan varios clásicos indiscutibles del cine británico y mundial: Los invasores (49th Parallel, 1941), Vida y muerte del coronel Blimp (The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, 1943), A vida o muerte (A Matter of Life and Death, 1946), Las zapatillas rojas (The Red Shoes, 1948), Los cuentos de Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann, 1951) y La batalla del Río de la Plata (The Battle of the River Plate, 1956). En solitario, dirigió entre otros filmes, Luna de miel (Honeymoon, 1959) y la polémica El fotógrafo del pánico (Peeping Tom, 1960). Es autor de varios libros, en su mayoría relacionados con sus películas, y de dos magníficos volúmenes autobiográficos, uno de ellos póstumo. Juego de espera (A Waiting Game, 1975) constituye una rareza, pues es su única novela.
