As Rusty struggles to decipher the oddities of adult behavior and the mysteries build toward a reckoning, Ivan Doig wonderfully captures how the world becomes bigger and the past becomes more complex in the last moments of childhood.

Ivan Doig (White Sulphur Springs, Montana, 1939 – Seattle, 2015)
D’origen escocès, va néixer en un ranxo familiar de Montana, un Estat del nord-oest dels Estats Units majoritàriament rural, que es convertiria en l’escenari de bona part de la seva obra narrativa. Després de la mort de la seva mare quan ell era petit, va viure amb el pare i l’àvia en altres ranxos del mateix Estat. Graduat en Periodisme i Història, va treballar com a granger i en el servei forestal abans de convertir-se en col·laborador habitual de diaris i revistes. El 1979 va aparèixer la seva primera obra, This House of Sky, un text autobiogràfic que arribaria a ser finalista del National Book Award. Una temporada per xiular és la seva obra més reconeguda.
