Deadman's Line
Sinopsis
"Deadmans Line" is a horror story set during the first winter of WWI in a nameless, snow-covered trench in France. A Canadian squad endures the brutal, freezing conditions, haunted by strange noises, mysterious tracks, and a growing sense of dread. When one soldier, Simmons, is gruesomely torn apart by an unseen predator, the squad realizes they are not fighting just humans, but something far worse—an ancient, supernatural beast that stalks them through the snow.
As the creature reveals itself—a twisted, wolf-like entity with human intelligence—the soldiers fear turns to horror. The creature recognizes one of their own, Sergeant Ellis, and begins to manifest the nightmare of wars trauma—a monstrous embodiment of guilt, loss, and primal hunger. Ellis begins transforming, his body and mind succumbing to the beasts influence, blurring the line between human and monster.
In a final, desperate struggle, Ellis confronts his own monstrosity, leading to a chilling realization that some horrors of war are eternal—lurking unseen in the darkness, waiting for the next victims. The story ends with new soldiers arriving at the same trench, warned to stay inside at night because "something out there remembers being human."
