The Pool Routine

In 1914, engineers stopped a typhoid outbreak by pouring raw bleach into a contaminated reservoir, proving water sterilization is simple, cheap chemistry. The Pool Routine opens there to expose a modern con: the pool store selling the same basic chemicals in brightly labeled jugs at a steep markup, printing a test result meant to scare owners into buying bottles they do not need.
The book follows a Phoenix logistics coordinator who paid a hundred and eighty-five dollars for alkalinity increaser, shock, and clarifier that turned out to be baking soda, bleach, and an unneeded polymer, a fraction of the price at the grocery store. It explains why the stores favorite upsell, phosphate remover, treats a symptom irrelevant once chlorine is correct, and how trichlor pucks quietly poison a pool over a season, building cyanuric acid until chlorine stops working.
Drawing on a Dallas architect who treats his pool equipment pad like a server rack, it lays out a five-minute daily routine of looking, testing two numbers, and dosing precisely, trading the panic of a green pool for boring, measurable control.
Discover why a clear pool needs no shelf of proprietary potions, just four cheap chemicals and five minutes a day.
