Tayari Jones (1970) es ganadora de los premios Hurston-Wright Legacy de Primera Novela 2003 y el Lillian Smith Book Award 2005. Se graduó por Spelman College y continuó sus estudios superiores en la Universidad Estatal de Arizona y la Universidad de Iowa. Ha sido profesora de Escritura Creativa en la Universidad de Illinois y la Universidad de George Washington. Actualmente, imparte clases en el Máster de Escritura Creativa de la Universidad Rutgers-Newark, en Nueva Jersey, y escribe sobre literatura en su blog, http://www.tayarijones.com/blog.
