IS THERE ANOTHER SPACE RACE?

This book examines whether a modern space race is under way and how metaphors shape its perception and dynamics. Through an analysis of the discourse from six major space-faring entities—the US, China, Russia, India, the EU, and Japan—the research reveals that only the US and the EU view space exploration as a “race.” It uncovers that metaphors play a crucial role in defining the competition between the US and China, influencing public discourse, and even extending the idea of the race to future endeavors, such as Mars exploration.
