Rumaan Alam és l’autor de les novel·les Rich and Pretty, That Kind of Mother i del best-seller del New York Times Deixar el món enrere. Els seus articles han aparegut a The New York Times, New York Magazine, The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, Bookforum i The New Republic, on és editor i col·laborador. Va estudiar escriptura a l’Oberlin College i viu a Nova York amb la seva família.
