It affirms the importance seriality and repetition have for Luis Gordillo, and his idea that an image submitted to ongoing reproduction never arrives at a definitive state. Gordillo has used varying styles and influences, such as Surrealism, expressive automatism and, later on, gesturalism and serial calligraphy. In the 80s figuration ceased having importance for his work, which gained in symbolic complexity and hinted at the artist’s growing interest in the terminology and actual images of the world of science.
