David Eddings (7 de Julio de 1931) es un autor estadounidense que ha escrito muchos bestsellers de fantasía. Su mujer, Leigh Eddings, figura en ocasiones como co-autora de muchos de sus primeros libros. Nació en Spokane (Washington), y se graduó en el Reed College en 1954 y en la University de Washington en 1961. Antes de convertirse en escritor, sirvió en el ejército de su país y trabajó en la compañía Boeing. Reside en Carson City, Nevada. Su frase más famosa resume su filosofía como autor:"No recibo órdenes de los lectores", dicha en una entrevista a SFFWorld. Es famoso por las Crónicas de Belgarath y de Mallorea.
