Get GardenFit
Take Care of Your Body While Taking Care of Your Garden
Sinopsis
Popular PBS GardenFit hosts Madeline Hooper and Adam Schersten have traveled the country visiting the gardens of some notable people—from Alice Waters, to Frances Palmer to Bunny Williams. Madeline, an enthusiastic gardener, started the show when she began to have such consistent pain in her neck and back that she was unable to continue gardening comfortably. After seeking a personal trainer, she was inspired to teach others how to care for their bodies in the garden.
The health benefits of gardening, the reader will discover, are seemingly endless and can do wonders for people of all ages, but especially for retirees:
fresh, nutritious food low-impact exercise fresh air
Yet, gardening can also take a toll on what author Madeline Hooper calls “our most important gardening tool”: our bodies.
That is why she joined forces with personal trainer and plant-enthusiast Adam Schersten. In Get GardenFit, Madeline and Adam have created a one-stop manual for gardeners of all ages and experience levels designed to teach the proper technique for the most important tasks we do in the garden: weeding, digging, planting, mulching, raking, watering, pruning and clipping, fencing and edging.
The book features full-color illustrations and photographs that demonstrate the proper technique and positioning for these movements, to keep yourself safe and mobile and able to fully enjoy years in the garden.
