George Friedman preside Stratfor, que fundó en 1996, considerada la principal compañía privada de predicción geoestratégica. Antes, ejerció su actividad en el mundo académico durante casi veinte años como profesor de ciencia política. En esa etapa asesoró regularmente a mandos superiores de diversos organismos de las Fuerzas Armadas y a corporaciones vinculadas a la seguridad y la defensa. Friedman nació en Hungría, hijo de supervivientes del Holocausto. Su familia huyó del país cuando él era aún un niño para evitar el régimen comunista y emigró a los Estados Unidos. Años después, estudió fi losofía y ciencia política y se doctoró en la Universidad de Cornell. En 1994, fundó el Centro para Estudios Geopolíticos de la Universidad Estatal de Louisiana. Se especializó en el análisis de los conflictos internacionales y es autor o coautor de libros como The Political Philosophy of the Frankfurt School, The Coming War With Japan, The Future of War, The Intelligence Edge y America’s Secret War.
