But the one under examination - consumption, in the profession and out of it, is known by a variety of names. Some of the words by which the disorder is known, are arbitrary, while others are not. Analogies, localities and symptoms have had more to do in giving names to consumption, than its real nature. A name that would embrace the definition of the disease, would be of great service.
