NoViolet Bulawayo nació en Zimbabue. Cuando tenía dieciocho años, se mudó a Michigan (EE. UU.). Su primera novela, "Necesitamos nombres nuevos", fue finalista del Premio Booker, del Guardian First Book y del Barnes & Noble Discover, y ganó el premio Betty Trask, el Hemingway Foundation/PEN, el Hurston-Wright Legacy, el Etisalat y el Premio del Libro de Los Angeles Times por Primera Ficción. También ha ganado el Premio Caine de Escritura Africana y el National Book Award 5 Under 35. NoViolet obtuvo su Máster en Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Cornell y recibió la beca Stegner de la Universidad de Stanford, donde enseñó ficción. Actualmente escribe a tiempo completo, allá donde esté. Con "Gloria", fue finalista del Premio Booker 2022.
