A Promise Once Broken
A Place That God Forgot, #1
Sinopsis
In the snowbound isolation of a Carpathian village, where snow buries more than the living, every new-born must be bound by blood to the hearth of the house.
When Ilinca, the village midwife, breaks that ancient rite to spare a childs pain, the silence that follows is not peace but judgment. The fire refuses her offering. The shadows grow hungry. And the cries that echo through the forest are not all human.
As Ilinca tries to mend what she has undone, love and guilt become indistinguishable. Each ritual, each breath, pulls her closer to the truth that some promises cannot be unmade without a cost.
Haunting and lyrical, A Promise Once Broken weaves Romanian folklore, maternal grief, and the weight of faith into a story of devotion turned curse.
