First to Fall | eBook

Lord Ellison is a murderer. As the first son of a marquess, that puts him in an impossible situation. He needs an heir, but isnt worthy of a wife. Unfortunately, his father has run out of patience, and gives an ultimatum in the form of a contest between Jackson and his two brothers—the last to wed will be disinherited. Determined to win, Jackson walks into a crowded ballroom and chooses the first lady who catches his eye.

One year ago, Emily foolishly trusted a man she thought herself in love with. But instead of betrothed, he left her heartbroken, ruined, and facing inevitable spinsterhood. So when Lord Ellison asks her father for her hand, she should be thrilled. But why would the most eligible bachelor of the season choose her, even knowing of her past?

Emily is dubious of Jacksons intentions, but hes kind, and patient, and works hard to earn her trust. One kiss at a time. But just when everything seems perfect, she discovers Jacksons been keeping a dark secret. Is Jackson truly different from the man who hurt her? Or has she once again given her heart to a scoundrel?
