Jesse Ball nació en Nueva York en 1978. Es narrador y poeta. Autor de una quincena de libros, obtuvo los premios Plimpton y Gordon Burn, fue candidato al National Book en 2015 y la revista Granta lo incluyó en la selección de los Mejores Narradores Jóvenes de Estados Unidos. Su obra fue traducida a más de veinte idiomas. En castellano, se publicaron Toque de queda, Censo, Cómo provocar un incendio y por qué y Los niños 6, estas dos últimas por Sigilo. Además de sus novelas y colecciones de poesía, cuento y prosa breve, escribió un libro en colaboración con Brian Evenson e ilustrado por Lili Carré –The Deaths of Henry King–, un manual sobre el sueño lúcido dirigido a niños y a personas que están en prisión –Sleep, Death’s Brother– y un manual de procedimientos para profesores de escritura –Notes on My Dunce Cap–. Su libro más reciente es Autoportrait, de próxima aparición en Sigilo.
