The Wrong House
Sinopsis
Wally has planned the job carefully.
Eli has the technology.
Stacy just wants everyone to get along.
Breaking into the gothic mansion is supposed to be simple: get in, grab what they can, and get out before anyone knows they were there. But almost immediately, the house begins to behave in ways that make no sense. Doors wont open. Windows refuse to break. Alarms seem to activate—and deactivate—on their own.
Then theres Al.
The mansions caretaker is polite, calm, and oddly unconcerned by the presence of three criminals in the middle of the night. He offers conversation, riddles, and advice no one asked for, all while the house quietly tightens its grip.
As the night drags on, plans fall apart and tempers flare. Logic gives way to panic. The men slowly realize that they arent in control of the situation—and never were. This isnt a robbery gone wrong. Its something else entirely.
The Wrong House is a darkly comic short novel about overconfidence, bad decisions, and what happens when criminals wander into a place that doesnt need locks because it already knows youre there. Blending sharp dialogue, escalating absurdity, and an unforgettable final turn, the story explores the thin line between confidence and foolishness—and how easily it disappears when the rules change.
Some houses are built to keep people out.
This one was built to keep you in.
