Sinopsis

Volumes 26 to 50, for the Years 1869 to 1893In arrangement this volume owes much to Miss V. M. Dallas, whose General Index to the Antiquaries Journal, published in 1938, served as a model. In format the volume reverts to the size of the publica tions to which it relates. The entries have in general been made on a topo graphical basis and lists of the places referred to are given under each country and English county. In addition, entries grouped under period headings appear topographically. In these period sections articles are listed in bold type in alphabetical order of either place-name or subject according to convenience. There follow references to papers read but not published by the Institute, short notes and finally a list of objects.A similar order is observed in the case of entries relating to the general headings under which many objects are grouped. In the latter, objects have been sub-divided according to period, material, type or place of origin as seemed most suitable. Bibliographical details entered against individuals appear in order of publication. The correction of an Index of this kind has been laborious and I am indebted to Miss J. M. Morris, and Mr. E. A. Morley who under took this work during my absence overseas.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
