En Camboya, algunos padres venden a sus hijos a la edad de cinco o seis años por unos cientos de euros. En los burdeles, las jovencitas se prostituyen por quinientos rieles (quince céntimos de euro), una suma de dinero que va a parar integramente a las manos de los proxenetas o de la mama-san, la madame.Somaly Mam, de treinta y cuatro años de edad nos ofrece un testimono acerca de las torturas en los protibulos y cuenta con emocion el destino tragico de esas niñas.Para luchar contra este trafico humano, Somaly Mam, junto con su marido Pierre legros, creo en 1997 en Camboya la asociacion Afesip (actuar en beneficio de las mujeres ensituacion de precariedad), una ONG con vocacion internacional que se ha extendido en Tailandia, Vietnam y Laos y que tiene por objetivos el rescate y la reinsercion social de las mujeres condenadas a la esclavitud sexual.
