Margaret Edith Weis y Tracy Hickman son creadores del universo literario y de juegos de rol Dragonlance. Weis se graduó en la Universidad de Missouri, y en 1983 comenzó su trabajo para TSR, quienes desarrollaron el primer videojuego ambientado en el mundo Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). En esta empresa, formó equipo de desarrollo con Hickman para la creación de la Dragonlance, todo un filón que comenzó con los juegos de rol y se extendió a la literatura.
