Insignificant Others

A biting, funny and frothy debut novel about three people trapped in their partner’s shadow.

Being someones plus-one isnt the same as being someone.

Emma has spent ten years building her authors’ careers and supporting her restaurant-mogul husband. Now she’s hit it with Mary Guff, the internet-famous feminist writer whos sprung on the media stage as an Oprah-and- Seth-Meyers sensation. Chenal has spent her marriage being "Appropriate": burying her humble past and remaking herself as the perfectly turned-out wife who manages her movie-star husbands brand. Kevin was pursuing a quiet life teaching elementary school until his wife, author of that sensational book, turned him into a meme.

Just as each character is starting to question their status quo, an anonymous account accuses Mary of secretly using AI to write her bestseller. The internet, predictably, loses its mind. As the accusation snowballs into a full-blown publishing scandal, Emmas career, Kevins marriage, and Chenals carefully curated life all start to crack at the same time, forcing all three of them to reckon with a harder question than whos telling the truth online: who are they, when theyre not somebody elses insignificant other?
