A new "echo" calls real estate agent Sloane to a magnificent old school, now a grand hotel. But instead of the quiet hum of history, shes greeted by a chilling cacophony: childrens laughter mingling with desperate screams of "Fire!" Here, a dozen innocent child spirits, led by the brave Thomas "Tom" Finch, are trapped, reliving the horror of a Christmas Eve fire in 1925.

Sloane quickly learns the hotels charming "haunting" is a cynical cover-up. The fire wasnt an accident, but a deliberate act by Walter Croft, the schools janitor, to conceal his ruthless embezzlement. Worse, Walters ghost, now a cold, oppressive presence, still haunts the hotel, desperately trying to silence the truth and clear his own name by subtly blaming Tom for the tragedy.

With Caleb, her steadfast contractor, unwittingly uncovering clues and a group of grieving descendants gathering for their annual memorial, Sloane races against time. She must confront Walters lingering malevolence, piece together the forgotten details of the fire, and clear Tom Finchs name to finally bring peace to the innocent children and expose a century-old crime.
