The Executioner

An ER doctor who secretly moonlights as a death row executioner must stop an innocent man’s execution while being hunted by the sadistic abductor she thought she’d finally outsmarted, in an exhilarating cat-and-mouse thriller from the author of The Death Row Club.

She has ended fourteen lives. The fifteenth may be innocent.

Dr. Erin Weiss has built a secret career on death row. By day, shes a respected emergency physician. In secret, shes one of the few doctors willing to oversee executions, believing that if the state insists on killing, someone must ensure the condemned dont suffer needlessly. Its a burden she carries alone—one that could cost her medical license, her career, and everyone she loves...if the truth ever comes to light.

Her latest assignment should be routine. Silas Mariner has waived every appeal and volunteered for execution. The evidence against him seems overwhelming. But when Erin sits across from the young man she has been sent to kill, something doesnt add up. Her instincts—the same instincts that save lives in the emergency room—tell her the state is about to execute an innocent man.

With only days before the scheduled execution, Erin begins an unauthorized investigation that exposes buried evidence, political corruption, and a community desperate for justice at any cost. At the same time, the man who once abducted her—a predator who has haunted every corner of her life—reappears, forcing Erin to confront the terrifying question shes spent years avoiding: What separates justice from vengeance?

As the clock counts down toward the execution chamber, Erin must decide how much shes willing to sacrifice to save a man she barely knows—and whether crossing the line into murder herself is the only way to stop another.

A razor-sharp literary thriller that combines the moral complexity of The Nickel Boys with the relentless psychological tension of The Silent Patient, The Executioner is a haunting novel about trauma, power, and the impossible choices that define who we become.
