The Locked Wing

Some secrets are worth keeping. Some secrets are worth burying.

Martha Sowerby was hired to dust a dead womans room and keep her mouth shut. Instead, she becomes the last line of defense between two children who shouldnt exist — a forgotten girl nobody wanted and a hidden boy nobodys supposed to know about — and a house full of people paid to report every strange noise, every locked door, every light where no light should be.

At Misselthwaite Manor, servants dont ask questions. They obey Mrs. Medlock, they fear the masters grief, and they never — never — go near the east wing after dark. But when Martha realizes the sickly boy shes fed broth to for years is sneaking past his own sickroom walls, and the strange new mistress is disappearing for hours into the grounds, she has a choice: report it, like shes supposed to — or lie, cover, and risk everything she has to protect a secret that could get her family thrown off the moor.

A tale of loyalty, class, and quiet rebellion, told from below stairs — where the real danger was never the garden. It was getting caught.
