When the Sky Was Not Enough

When the Sky Was Not Enough is a true story told through narrative fiction—an honest, deeply moving testimony of a man who spent most of his life loving the beauty of creation while running from the God who made it. Peter Carter grew up with creek banks, deer stands, open sky, and the quiet warnings of mercy he did not yet understand. As he entered adulthood, pride, appetite, and rebellion carried him farther from truth, covenant, and the family who loved him.

From near‑disasters in childhood to dangerous flights, military recklessness, broken promises, and years of spiritual blindness, Peters life became a long journey of ignoring the very grace that kept sparing him. Yet through creation, conscience, Scripture, and the voices of people he wounded, God continued to pursue him with patient mercy.

This story follows Peter from boyhood wonder to senior adulthood, where the world he loved finally pressed a question he could no longer outrun: If beauty was everywhere around him, why had his heart remained so far from God?

Told with emotional honesty and spiritual clarity, When the Sky Was Not Enough is for anyone who has carried regret into later years, anyone who has loved the world but missed the Creator, and anyone who wonders whether grace can still find them after so much time. It is a testimony of rebellion, rescue, repentance, and the saving work of Jesus Christ—proof that mercy often looks like luck until the Lord opens a sinners eyes.
