EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION FOR THE TECHNICAL PROFESSIONS

Intended for usage in a one- or two-semester course in communication for technical professionals. While most technical communication texts offer writing practice only, Effective Communication for the Technical Professions incorporates the skills of critical reading and analysis that many employers note are missing in today's graduates. The variety of writing samples, some of which violate the principles of good writing, can be used to help the students develop skill in assessing the appropriateness and effectiveness of different communicative strategies. By comparing effective examples with ineffective or flawed examples, students will develop greater discernment and critical skill that in turn will assist them in editing their own work.
