Rebecca Makkai (Chicago, 1978) és escriptora, professora del Sierra Nevada College i de la Universitat de Northwestern, i directora artística del centre per a escriptors StoryStudio Chicago. És autora de les novel·les The borrower (2011) i The hundred-year house (2014). Els grans optimistes va ser finalista del Premi Pulitzer 2019 i del National Book Award 2018 i va rebre diversos guardons internacionals. També se n’han adquirit els drets per fer-ne una pel·lícula.
