These monochromatic images of the city on the lagoon came into being in the course of many years and several journeys. Michael Nischke often took off in the early light of morning to find the city in such serenity as it can be seen in many of his images. Time and again, Nischke finds views in the narrow lanes and canals that have the city on the lagoon glow in its ancient glory.
