El poemario Sonetos de la portuguesa (Sonnets from Portuguese) es una colección de cuarenta y cuatro sonetos que Elizabeth Barrett escribió para su esposo y fue publicado por primera vez en 1850. Por el caracter intimo de los mismos, la poeta dudo en publicarlos, pero Browning le animo a ello puesto que los considero sublimes. Por ese motivo decidieron editarlos como si se tratase de una traduccion del portugues o escritos por la Portuguesa, que era como llamaba Browning a Barrett, aunque inmediatamente fueron reconocidos como poemas de la autora, y son considerados una de las mejores series de poemas de amor de la literatura inglesa.
