Sinopsis

She stood in the Dawn Courts judgment hall in chains forged from sunsteel ceremonial, which made them worse.

She was accused of treason. Of passing maps to the Shadow Court.
Of bearing shadow residue on a sworn Dawn weapon.

She did none of those things.

The Shadow Lord who came to collect his supposed asset
was not expecting her to already know that.

Captain Seris Vale has spent her life inside Dawn Court law. She earned every rank, trained every soldier she commanded, and stood at the south stair during the winter raids when courage meant something other than spectacle. Now she stands chained in the judgment hall with dried blood on her collar and her court calling for her death, accused of treason she did not commit.

The evidence against her is perfect. Too perfect. Forged with the specific patience of someone who understood exactly what Dawn Court law would accept and how little it required of doubt.

Caedren, Shadow Lord of the eastern territories, arrives under a truce flag not to rescue her, not to claim her, but because whatever was done to her weapon was done in his Courts name and he does not allow debts he did not authorize. He is not what Seris was raised to believe about shadow-blooded fae. He is colder, more precise, more honest about the cost of power than any Dawn noble she has ever met, and entirely too capable of reading the specific way she calculates exits in every room she enters.

She cannot trust him. The mark on her weapon runs both ways. And the conspiracy that framed her reaches through both courts into Dawns high chambers and Shadows noble houses and has been sustained for years by a balance of power both sides preferred to peace.

What follows is an enemies-to-lovers road across the border between two courts that have spent generations defining each other as the enemy because it was simpler than admitting the rot was internal. The witness-mark between them does not compel. It remembers. Every choice they make inside it is legible and permanent, which is more frightening than any bond that could be dissolved.

For readers who want their fae romance enemies to hold genuinely irreconcilable histories and work through them anyway, their framed heroines sharp enough to investigate their own exoneration, their shadow heroes given real moral complexity rather than aesthetic darkness and their borders redrawn not by treaty but by two people choosing to stand beside each other in public.

A dark romance. For adult readers. Contains themes of political conspiracy, institutional betrayal, and the specific violence of systems that require simple enemies.
