DING DONG DITCHED

A retired detective. A viral prank. A system turned against its own.

James McIntosh spent decades on the front lines of the NYPD, facing down the citys most dangerous criminals to earn a quiet retirement. Now, in the secluded woods of Upper Downhill, Pennsylvania, his only mission is caring for his mother as she battles dementia. But on a humid July night, the peace is shattered by a violent pounding at his door. A glance at his security camera reveals a masked figure, and instinct takes over. Fearing a home invasion in an era of rising crime, McIntosh fires two warning shots into the air to protect his home and his mother. He thought he was the victim. The state of Pennsylvania decided he was the criminal.

Ding Dong Ditched is a gripping, true-to-life account of how a mindless social media trend—the "Door Kick Challenge"—collided with systemic bias to destroy a good mans reputation. Instead of hunting the masked prowlers terrorizing the neighborhood, the Pennsylvania State Police turned their sights on McIntosh. Led by investigators who held him to an impossible "higher standard" because of his badge, the system he once served began to tighten a noose around his neck. While his neighbors suffered the same pranks without police intervention, McIntosh found himself facing criminal charges, the revocation of his permits, and a lonely battle for his freedom.

In this tense legal drama and social commentary, Blackkicesmooth explores the harrowing intersection of the Second Amendment, racial profiling, and the devastating consequences of viral pranks. As McIntosh navigates the betrayal of fellow officers and the complexities of elder care, readers are taken on an emotional journey from terror to indignation. This is more than a story about a prank gone wrong; it is a searing look at the limitations of self-defense laws and the high cost of being a Black man with a gun in rural America.

Inside this compelling narrative, you will discover:

The psychological toll of a home invasion scare on a retired officer. A deep dive into systemic racial bias within rural law enforcement. The legal battle to protect the right to self-defense. The reality of viral social media challenges and their real-world victims. A poignant look at the burden of elder care amidst a legal crisis.

Perfect for fans of Just Mercy and Ghettoside, Ding Dong Ditched is a timely wake-up call regarding justice, safety, and the thin line between protector and perceived predator.
