The Glass Cannon
Sinopsis
The news that the world was ending arrived on a Tuesday, the same day Anya Sharmas coffee machine died. For Anya, a brilliant systems engineer disgraced for seeing the flaws everyone else ignored, it was just another symptom of the same disease: a world of beautifully designed systems that had forgotten how to work.
When a hostile alien fleet arrives, Anya is pulled from her purgatory of broken appliances by the very military that exiled her. Her mission: hunt a sophisticated alien "ghost" that is crippling Earths starfighters from the inside out. General Madsen and the United Earth Defense Force need a weapon signature, a target to counter. They need a heroic narrative for a terrifying war.
But the ghost Anya finds isnt alien. Its the familiar, mundane ghost of corporate negligence. Its the ghost of a system where "military-spec" is just a new paint job on a cheap consumer-grade part, and the warranty is the fine print in a procurement contract.
Trapped between a desperate alien fleet and a military command that would rather believe in a ghost than admit to a flaw in their beautiful blueprint, Anya realizes she cant just fix the machine. She has to break it worse. To save humanity, she must weaponize the one thing the system cant ignore: the truth. But in a war built on lies, the truth might be the most dangerous weapon of all.
