Joan Castellar-Gassol (Igualada, 1933 – Sant Just Desvern, 2011) va ser periodista i escriptor. Des de molt jove es va orientar cap al periodisme i va exercir de corresponsal de premsa en diferents països. És considerat introductor a l’Estat espanyol del periodisme modern d’investigació. També va ser director de la revista "La Nació", "Cultura" i del diari "La Humanitat", fundat per Lluís Companys, així com escriptor de les publicacions "Índic", "Siglo XX", "Cambio 16", "Selecciones del Reader’s Digest", entre d’altres.
