Nacido en 1969, Adrian Goldsworthy realizó sus estudios en el Westbourne Boys College antes de ingresar como lector en Historia Antigua y Moderna en el St. John’s College de Oxford. Después realizó el doctorado en Historia Antigua en Oxford, estuvo dos años como investigador becado en la Universidad de Cardiff. Dedicado actualmente de manera profesional a la investigación, aún se dedica a la enseñanza a tiempo parcial en el campus londinense de la Universidad de Notre Dame.
