What is Montserrat?

Montserrat is a unique and surprising mountain. It is visible from a vast area of Catalonia, and has become a symbol. One way or another, during pilgrimages or in private groups, Catalans often climb up to the shrine of Montserrat. The Benedictine community that has lived there since the eleventh century is responsible for prayer and welcoming visitors. This book provides an introduction to all aspects related to Montserrat, written by a monk wishing to describe his experiences of various facets of the mountain, the monastery and the shrine.
